Air Quality Focus Areas London Planning Data Map

David Walton made this Freedom of Information request to Greater London Authority Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Greater London Authority,

At Local Plan level, Brent Policies Map has South Kilburn Tall Building Zone Growth Area (a lot of population growth zoned 1,200 m from Central London boundary) as a one off 'Brent Air Quality Focus Area', whereas the London Planning Data Map only includes this red-lined Growth Area up to Kilburn Park Underground station from east and therefore (unlike Brent) ignores most of it spatially as an Air Quality Focus Area?

Of note are issues like no new tree planting in this zone but all around it happening and many in zone green spaces brownfield registered at Brent Local level, strange given car-free intensive (tall) housing no gardens is the in red line zone plan?

For the rest of Brent both of these maps are consistent and spatial mirror? Can you please explain why this particular inconsistency is allowed given population growth being tall building zoned South Kilburn?

Yours faithfully,

David Walton

Mayor of London, Greater London Authority

Dear Mr Walton

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the Planning DataMap. You note that
there is a discrepancy with Brent’s local plan map. This contains both
Brent Council’s own Air Quality Focus Areas and those of the GLA, which
are different. At present the DataMap only contains a certain number of
London-wide policies (one of which is the GLA AQFAs) and is by no means
exhaustive.

However, as you know, we are currently working to process over 1100 layers
of local plan data which we requested from all the London planning
authorities. Once this is done later this year they will be displayed on
the DataMap.

Thanks again for your interest.

Yours sincerely

Information Governance Officer
