Air Conditioning Inspection Report Environmental Compliance Audit (commonly known as an ACI TM44)

Jessica Thomas made this Freedom of Information request to Alsop High School, Liverpool This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was successful.

Dear Alsop High School, Liverpool,

This request relates to Environmental Legislation, specifically TM44 Air Conditioning Inspection Reporting, which is mandatory for buildings which are air conditioned above a statutory minimum size. Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government track offenders.

Q. Who is the responsible person for ensuring that your buildings are legally compliant on the TM44 mandatory environmental matter? Provide the name, position, address, email address and direct telephone number of the responsible person.
Q. All reports are mandatorily lodged on MHCLG database. No reports are currently lodged or are out of date for your School, you are therefore non-compliant. Has your Governing Body been made aware of this breach?
Q. Air Conditioning and Air Handling Systems may cause increased risk of Covid-19 spread, have you covered off the issue, along with TM44 Inspections, in any Return to Work Risk Assessments?
Q. Provide the name and email address of the Board Principal.
Q. Do you teach your Pupils about the environment?

Yours faithfully,

Jessica Thomas

Hallo

Please find the response to your FOI below. Apologies for the delay but I
believe your email went to Junk folder before it made its way to me.

Q. Who is the responsible person for ensuring that your buildings are
legally compliant on the TM44 mandatory environmental matter? Provide the
name, position, address, email address and direct telephone number of the
responsible person.

A. – As a Facilities Manager I have delegated responsibility for ensuring
the buildings are compliant. You have my contact details in this email.
The school’s phone number is 0151 235 1200.

Q. All reports are mandatorily lodged on MHCLG database. No reports are
currently lodged or are out of date for your School, you are therefore
non-compliant. Has your Governing Body been made aware of this breach?

A. Statutory maintenance of the air conditioning system is responsibility
of our FM Contractor and they nor myself were aware of this requirement
and they have been asked now to rectify this immediately. The system has
been maintained and serviced to the required standards and regulations.
Since we were not aware of this requirement the Governors would not be
aware of the breach.

Q. Air Conditioning and Air Handling Systems may cause increased risk of
Covid-19 spread, have you covered off the issue, along with TM44
Inspections, in any Return to Work Risk Assessments?

A. According to HSE advice the air conditioning presents very low risk in
spreading the virus providing the rooms are well ventilated and we are
doing our to maximise the ventilation available to us (forced or natural).
Both ventilation and air conditioning is in our COVID 19 risk assessment.

Q. Provide the name and email address of the Board Principal.

A. Jon Wright is Academy Trust CEO and his email is
[email address]

Q. Do you teach your Pupils about the environment?

A. We teach the students about the environment in Geography and  on this
in PSHCE, how important it is for well-being.

Regards
