Air Conditioning Inspection Report Environmental Compliance Audit (commonly known as an ACI TM44)

The request was successful.

Dear Aston Academy,
This request relates to UK Environmental Legislation, specifically Air Conditioning Inspection Reporting, which is mandatory for UK buildings which are air conditioned above a statutory minimum size.

Q. How many buildings do you occupy which have air conditioning. Provide addresses?
Q. Who is the responsible person for ensuring that your buildings are legally compliant on this mandatory environmental matter? Provide the name, position, address, email address and direct telephone number of the responsible person.
Q. All reports are mandatorily lodged on a Government database. No reports are currently lodged or are out of date, you are therefore non-compliant. Has your Governing Body been made aware of this breach?
Q. Provide the name and email address of the ultimate person who has made the decision to ignore this Environmental Legislation.
Q. Provide the name and email address of the Board Principal/Director of the Organisation.
Q. If you use a Facilities Management Company to manage compliance, who are they?

Yours faithfully,

Paul Evans

Dear Mr Evans,

Following your original FoI request we booked with Airmaster a local air
conditioning contractor to have the appropriate testing completed on the
units at Aston Academy, a copy of the purchase order is attached. Due to
their current workload, they have yet to complete the testing. It was our
intention to be able to send a copy of the certification once it was
complete, hence our delay in responding to your request. The service
engineer is due on-site on Monday 23rd December to complete the
appropriate certification.

Prior to your letter we were unaware of this specific piece of legislation
and had thought it was covered by our Service Level Agreement/Display
Energy Certificate compliance, so thank you for bringing it to our
attention. We were unknowingly in breach of the requirement and you will
note from our urgency to remedy this by booking the contractor, we take
our responsibilities seriously.

I can confirm that we do have the units serviced at the appropriate
intervals and it was the environmental compliance certification that we
were lacking.

Governors will be made aware at the next meeting that we were unknowingly
not complying and that we have made changes to amend this.

We currently have 16 units serving 11 individual rooms across the Academy
all of which are rooms less than 75m square (most of them significantly
less). This is a tiny percentage of the number of rooms within the entire
school.

A list of the members of the current governing body is available on the
school website. We cannot provide personal addresses or phone numbers for
these people but if you write to them using the School address, all mail
will be directed to them.

The team for looking after building compliance is the Estates department
and similarly, they can be contacted via the school address and phone
number.

I hope this is a satisfactory answer to your request.

Yours faithfully,

Mark Arthur
