Reply from Smestow November 28th 2022:
Further to your request, I have established as much information as I possibly can.
Viewsonic SENS, was all organised by previous senior leadership in the school. It was part of a partnership the school had with Viewsonic.
2 Sens units were loaned to the school by Viewsonic and was put in several classrooms, at least 4, and was mostly switched off during its time at the school as it was experimental and not priority. It was only used a few times within a class. The Sens has a camera in it but there was no access to the camera it just used the image to process student engagement and lighting and CO2 monitor. I believe it sent information back to a Viewsonic server but nothing identifiable.
The AHT at the time was the person who handled it all, we had nothing to do with it other than we just attached the SENS unit to the screen. The units have now been returned to Viewsonic and haven't been on site since the AHT left as Viewsonic collected on last day of the summer term (July 2022)
ViewSonic visited the school on two occasions (01st December 2021 and 01st March 2022).
Our student data base is Bromcom, we obtain permission from parents for 3rd party data and biometric data. Biometric data is only obtained for use for our cashless catering. Parents can and do refuse.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions, unfortunately due to staff turnover a majority of the senior leadership staff that were here in 2021 – 2022 are no longer at the school.
I am unable to confirm which classrooms, as the staff involved with this project are no longer employed by the school and I have asked other staff who can’t recall.
Data Collection and Biometric Forms are sent out to parents at the start of the academic year.
I am unable to comment if a DPIA was completed as mentioned in answer 1.
Again, unable to comment. School employs a third-party IT team who supports all our IT needs.
No, financial cost to the school
No communication as far as we know.
Kind regards
