Agreement between Tim Davie and Gary Lineker

British Broadcasting Corporation did not have the information requested.

Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

On BBC News web page https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment... it says "The TV host (Lineker) claimed he and BBC director general Tim Davie had already agreed on issues he would speak out on. ... When I met Tim Davie, when he first brought in his guidelines, we had a discussion, and I said to Tim, there are two things that I'll continue to talk up on. I will not back down. And he agreed.".

On GB News page https://www.gbnews.com/celebrity/gary-li... Lineker claims "Speaking of the deal he had with Tim Davie, Lineker said when he first met the Director General, the pair agreed that he would continue to be allowed to speak up on the refugee crisis and climate change despite the BBC's social media guidelines.".

Please provide copies of any documentation (emails, meeting minutes, letters, etc.) that support Mr Lineker's claim that such an agreement had been made with Mr Davie.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

Mr A Willmore

Dear FOI Enquiries,

I note that a response to this FOI request was due yesterday, but its delay comes as no surprise and seems to be the norm by the BBC these days, unfortunately. Welcome to my world.

Can I remind you that the "20 working days" time limit is a requirement, not a desire that can be ignored when convenient?

Yours sincerely,

Mr A Willmore

Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of British Broadcasting Corporation's handling of my FOI request 'Agreement between Tim Davie and Gary Lineker'.

A response to this request was due at the end of April. It is now the middle of May.

Please investigate and report on BBC FOI's handling of my request and its seemingly glacial progress.

I shall await your usual response to a delayed FOI (ref. FOI RFI20230107) with interest, but it will give me the freedom to report your lack of response to the Information Commissioner, which I will do.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/a...

Yours faithfully,

Mr A Willmore

Dear FOI Enquiries,

An acknowledgement of receipt for my Internal Review request, submitted a week ago, would be appreciated.

Yours sincerely,

Mr A Willmore

Dear Mr Willmore,

Thank you for your email. Please be advised that an internal review into
the handling of your request (with regards to time compliance) has already
been conducted. Please find a copy of our decision attached.

As we advised in our previous email regarding this matter, the BBC does
not offer an internal review when the information requested is not covered
by the Act. However, if you disagree with our decision you can appeal to
the Information Commissioner. Contact details are: Information
Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9

Please note that should the Information Commissioner’s Office decide that
the Act does cover this information, exemptions under the Act might then
apply.

Dear FOI Enquiries,

I think you may be getting confused. To the best of my knowledge, you have not responded to my request, so I did not know "the information requested is not covered by the Act". My request for an Internal Review was based solely on no response having been received.

Please advise if I have got that wrong and missed your response. Re-publication would be very helpful if that is indeed the case.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Mr A Willmore

No idea why they did the IR twice (23rd May and 30th May).
