Aggregate gender statistics for immigration applications

Dear Home Office,

I respectfully request the following information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

In the following requests, I use the terms:

"application": An application for a visa, biometric residence card, biometric residence permit, immigration status document, Home Office travel document, indefinite leave to remain, citizenship, transfer of conditions, change of circumstances, passport, or the like.

I request a copy of statistics available to the Home Office, indicating the number applicants from Jan. 1, 2014 to Dec. 31, 2023, broken down by:

a. year of application
b. type of application (e.g. visa, BRC, BRP, ILR, NTL TOC, etc)
c. which gender/sex marker the applicant indicated in the original application (i.e. disregarding any change the applicant made in response to the Home Office)

For example, your response might be a CSV file starting with lines such as:
"year", "type", "marker indicated", "number of applicants"
2019, "visa", "female", 23456
2019, "visa", "male", 12345
2019, "visa", "unspecified", 42
… etc.

If you do not have data available to fulfil this part of the request exactly, please tell me the closest data of this kind that you do have available, and I will revise my request to suit.

Dear Home Office,

If data for some, but not all of the types of applications, would fall under exemption please provide the non-exempt data.

I would also settle for the data being rounded to the nearest 100.

That said, the Office for National Statistics releases similar data already.
