Thank you for getting back to me so promptly. As the academic year runs to
31st August, we are unable to provide you with a complete spend. Would you
like WCG to respond to your request once the information is complete or
would you prefer to have the information up to the nearest date we can
provide?
Please bear in mind that although the academic year end is 31st August the
information will not be collated, complete and available to publish at
that same date. It may be a little time after that date when we have full
information. I am happy to diarise your request and set up a calendar

Please find attached/enclosed a spreadsheet with the names
of the agencies used by WCG and total spend, with break down
into academic, non-academic and placement costs.

In respect to break down of costs by agency and further
break down by department, WCG is applying the absolute
exemption at section 41(1) of the Freedom of Information Act
2000 (information provided in confidence). The information
was obtained by WCG from another person and disclosure of
the information to the public by WCG would constitute a
breach of confidence actionable by that or any other person.

WCG is applying the qualified exemption at section 43 of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 (commercial interests). This
exemption permits public authorities to protect its own
commercial interests and those of third parties with whom it
engages.

WCG believes the factors that weigh in favour of withholding
this information include:
1) disclosure would make it less likely that companies or
individuals would provide WCG with commercially sensitive
information in the future and consequently undermine the
ability of WCG to fulfil its role fully, ensuring value for
money; and 2) disclosure would be likely to prejudice the
commercial interests of WCG by affecting adversely its
bargaining position during contractual negotiations which
would result in the less effective use of public money.
