Please find herewith the following:
Birmingham City Council provides after-school provision which is mostly
open access by way of its Play Service. The Play Service is provided
during the day, after school and mainly during school holidays.
The Play Service is delivered primarily within 14 play centres, 9 of these
being purpose built stand-alone centres and 5 within community buildings.
The distribution of Play Centres is uneven across the city, with 6 centres
in Ladywood District, 2 each in Hall Green, Selly Oak, and Erdington and 1
each in Perry Barr and Hodge Hill. Sutton Coldfield, Northfield and
Edgbaston Districts do not have Play Centres however play provision is
delivered and funded by grants, fees etc. There are also a small number of
ad hock provisions.
It has not been possible to extrapolate the data specifically related to
after school provision alone therefore the information provided relates to
delivery of the whole play service (during the day, after school and
during school holidays) provided at individual centres for the financial
year 2011 / 12. Budgets for the year 2012/13 have also been provided.
If you have any information which may assist us in determining or locating
any missed information, we would be grateful if you would contact us with
details of this information, so that we can conduct a further search.
If you are not satisfied with the response you may ask for an internal
review. If subsequently you are not satisfied with the Council's decision
you may apply to the Information Commissioner for a decision. Generally,
the ICO cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted the complaints
procedure provided by the Council. The Information Commissioner can be
contacted at the following address:
