Advice provided to Secretary of State by MaPS under section 6 of the Financial Guidance and Claims Act 2018

We're waiting for Simon Stanger to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

Under section 6 of the Financial Guidance and Claims Act 2018, the single financial guidance body (now known to be the Money and Pensions Service) is required to advise the Secretary of State on the establishment of a debt respite scheme. MaPS was established on 1 October 2018 and became operational in January 2019.

Section 6(4) of the Act required MaPS to provide the advice within 12 months of its establishment (i.e. by 1 October 2019, and January 2020 at the latest).

Section 6(5) of the Act places the Secretary of State under a statutory duty to publish the advice.

Please forgive me if the advice has been published, but I have been unable to track it down. If it has, I would be very grateful if you could direct me to it.

Otherwise, please provide me, under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, all of the advice received by the Secretary of State from MaPS to date concerning the establishment of a debt respite scheme.

Yours faithfully,

Simon Stanger
