Dear Mr Porter

Thank you for your request for information which has been dealt with under
the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

Request

You requested the following information:

Dear Scarborough Borough Council,on the 26th of June there was a vote of
no confidence  at Scarborough town hall.

Head of legal Lisa Dixon, claimed that ,she had sought external  legal
advice from Bevan, brittan LLP.I understand this advise was given "over the
phone"?

I request under the FOIA

1. The date which Lisa Dixon was given said advice.

2. How much did  SBC paid for said advice, from Bevan,Brittan,LLP ,on this
matter alone and when this was paid? And to see said account, invoice ,etc.

Response

The FOIA provides the public with a right of access to information held on
record by the Council (subject to any exemptions that may apply). This
means that any person can request information that the Council holds in
recorded form, but the FOIA does not require the Council to provide
opinions or explanations, generate answers to questions, or create or
obtain information it does not hold at the time of the request.

The Council does not hold any recorded information as to the date on which
Mrs Dixon received the telephone advice from Bevan Brittan.

The Council does not hold recorded information that would allow for the
exact cost of the advice received to be identified. The Council has an
ongoing account with Bevan Brittan for the provision of Monitoring Officer
advice, receiving bills for this on an ad hoc basis. One such bill was
received this year for the payment of £280. It is likely that the cost of
the advice is included within this sum.
