Dear sir or madam,

Further to your request for information we confirm we do hold the information requested. Please see our response below.

1) Can you confirm how many adults you currently have on a waiting list awaiting a community care placement (care package)

At the end of June 2018, following a full needs assessment where the outcome was to provide services, 60 clients were awaiting services. This is a snap shot at that point. YTD at that point, 94.1% of clients received their services within 28 days of assessment completion.

2) What is the average length of time an adult stays on the waiting list?

For clients waiting for a full needs assessment, at the end of Jun 2018 this stood at 9.73 days (average according to current financial year). (source NI 132)

For clients waiting services to start (any type of service) following the completion of the a full needs assessment at the end of June 2018 this stood at 6.5 days (average according to current financial year). (source NI 133)

3) What happens when you are not able to place an adult within your current ASC Homecare framework/spot provider contract?
If we cannot place within our partnership, we ask for support from our Hospital in take provider on a short term basis, if they are unable to support then we approach our spot provider
4) How many Domicile Care businesses in the borough have closed in the last 12 months?

5) What is the current demand for Adult Care services within Luton?

Not sure how to answer this as it could be open to interpretation but a suggested answer could be:

In the reporting period of April 2018 to June 2018, the total number of clients who have received a service (of any description including equipment) from Adult Social Care: 3639
Number of individuals with open services at the end of the period to June 2018: 3134
Number of clients receiving long term services by setting (period of April 2018 to June 2018):

Setting description Number
Community 2249
Residential Home 425
Nursing Home 102

6) What is Luton council doing to address the shortage of Carers in the community?

Currently we monitor the capacity of the starters and leavers with our partnership and we monitor the partnership through their recruitment to ensure that there is a constant pipeline of carers coming down track.
