Kent County Council

Dear Paul

Thank you for your request for information made under the Freedom of
Information Act (FOIA) 2000, relating to adoption orders.

The number of Adoption Orders between 2012 and November 2016* inclusive
per calendar is as follows:

2012 – 97

2013 – 133

2014 – 1852015 – 116

Jan to Nov 2016* – 79

*Kent County Council is currently unable to provide data for December
2016, as this data has not yet been validated.

Details of the contact with natural parents and those natural parents who
have been granted PR and contact orders are not stored in a way that they
can be separated and reported against from Kent County Council’s IT
systems. Given the volume of Adoptions involved, reviewing the contact
arrangements for each child would exceed the appropriate limit of £450
(equivalent to 18 hours at £25 per hour). Therefore, in accordance with
section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Kent County Council is
not obliged to comply with your request.

Please note that Kent County Council endeavours to comply with legislation
and good practice in terms of working in partnership with birth parents.
If Kent County Council is unable to contact a birth parent, this
information is made known in the court report and evidence is always
required outlining the attempts that were made.

If you are unhappy with this response, and believe KCC has not complied
with legislation, please ask for a review by following our complaints
process; details can be found at this link
[1]http://www.kent.gov.uk/about-the-council...
on our website. Please quote reference FOI/16/2068.

If you still remain dissatisfied following an internal review, you can
appeal to the Information Commissioner, who oversees compliance with the
Freedom of Information Act 2000. Details of what you need to do, should
you wish to pursue this course of action, are available from the
Information Commissioner’s website [2]http://www.ico.org.uk/concerns.

Yours sincerely
