Adopted Road Information

We're waiting for A Storey to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Derbyshire County Council,

I’d like to request information on the side road called Brook Vale, located off Chatsworth Road in Chesterfield.

Is this an adopted side road and if so is it the councils responsibility?

The side road has signage that’s faded over the years. There’s also a street light at the end that I presume belongs to the council.

I am wondering if there signage could be improved, the street lighting upgraded for better safety and also the surfacing is deteriorating and now there is access from Brook Vale onto the new Lidl food store site that wasn’t there before.

Yours faithfully,
Mr S

Dear Mr Storey

Thank you for your request dated 16/07/2019.

Your request was for:

I’d like to request information on the side road called Brook Vale,
located off Chatsworth Road in Chesterfield.

Is this an adopted side road and if so is it the councils responsibility?

The side road has signage that’s faded over the years. There’s also a

I am wondering if there signage could be improved, the street lighting

there is access from Brook Vale onto the new Lidl food store site that

Please see the below Freedom of Information Act 2000 / Environmental
Information Regulations 2004 response:

Brook Vale is not an adopted highway, so is not the maintenance
responsibility of Derbyshire County Council. You may wish to approach
Chesterfield Borough Council to ascertain if they are responsible for its
upkeep, which is likely to include the signage. A map showing the
Council’s adoptions can be found on our website via :-
[2]https://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/environmen...

However, Derbyshire County Council does have responsibility for one street
light on Brook Vale (no. 12752) and this is due to be converted to LED in
the near future, although we cannot provide you with a date at this time.

I hope this now satisfies your request.
