Dear Freedom of Information Mailbox,

Peterborough City Council paid -L-6,274.11 on costs relating to travel, accommodation and subsistence of prospective adopters visiting children for adoption introduction purposes.

Does the above figure include Adoptive Parents Court?Lodging of Adoption Order Fees? If no, does your Council pay these and what was its expenditure on them?

Yours sincerely,

A Williams

Dear Madam

We hope this response shown below answers your question.

Does the above figure include Adoptive Parents Court & Lodging of Adoption Order Fees? If no, does your Council pay these and what was its expenditure on them?

The figure of £21,311.96 will include reimbursement of any court/legal costs incurred by adopters.

It is the Authority's policy to reimburse all legal costs incurred by adopters that relate to the adoption of a child from the Authority's care. Reimbursement is normally effected by means of adopters making a claim after an Adoption Order has been granted.

Dear Freedom of Information Mailbox,

Peterborough City Council paid -L-21,311.96 to new adoptive parents for the reimbursement of expenses incurred and settling in grants during the financial year 2010/2011.

Peterborough City Council paid -L-6,274.11 on costs relating to travel, accommodation and subsistence of prospective adopters visiting children for adoption introduction purposes.

If the £21,311.96 was for Settling-In Expenditure it CANNOT contain legal costs. On the other hand legal costs aren't mentioned in the £6,274.11 expenses costs.

Please can you clarify.

Yours sincerely,

A Williams
