Dear S Zhang,
Your request was received on 22 July 2023 and I am dealing with it under the terms of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 (‘the Act’).
You asked:
Could I please ask for the following information for undergraduate medicine course (A100) and
International applicants ONLY:
1. The number of applicants for A100 listed by each college from the 2020 to 2022 admissions
cycle
2. The number of shortlisted applicants listed by each college from the 2020 to 2022 admissions
cycle
3. The number of admitted applicants by each college from the 2020 to 2022 admissions cycle
4. The average BMAT score, IB score and GCSE/IGCSE score for the admitted A100
International students listed by each college from 2020 to 2022
5. The average BMAT score, IB score and GCSE/IGCSE score for the shortlisted A100
International students listed by each college from 2020 to 2022
The requested information is attached. We do not hold information about ‘shortlisted’ applicants; all
interview processes for entry to undergraduate degree courses at the University are set and managed
locally by each of the individual Colleges, each of which is a separate legal entity and public authority
under the Act. University has aggregated the data across the time period to prevent the risk of any
individual being identified. In presenting the information in this way, the University is engaging the
exemption at section 40(3A)(a) of the Act because the release of the raw data would breach the first
data protection principle (the fair, lawful and transparent processing of personal data) as set out in the
UK General Data Protection Regulation. This part of section 40 confers absolute exemption under the
Act.
