Dear Alex,
Thank you for submitting an FOI request, requesting information from the
University of Warwick.
The University is unable to provide admissions data for applicants for
entry onto courses starting in the 2021 academic year as the current
admissions cycle is not yet complete. The University will not be in a
position to provide this until after the enrolment data is available for
the 2021 academic year for the various cohorts of students which is
usually at the end of October (31st) in each given year.
In any event, having reviewed your request, the University estimates that
compliance with the second part of your request would exceed the
appropriate costs limit under S.12 Freedom of Information Act 2000. Public
authorities are not obliged to work past the appropriate costs limit under
section 12(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. This is currently
£450, which equates to 18 hours of staff time calculated at £25 an hour as
set out in the Freedom of Information and Data Protection (Appropriate
Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004.
The University believes your request would exceed the costs limit because
responding to the below categories would require the University to
undertake a manual search of all student records which would number
thousands of lines of data. It is therefore advised that you submit a
refined request.
1) Number of applicants who belong to the specified cohort who took
Further Mathematics as one of their A-Levels
1) Number of applicants who belong to the specified cohort who took
Further Mathematics as one of their A-Levels who were made an offer
5) Mean number of A* predicted grades for offer holders from the specified
cohort
6) Mean number of A* (Grade 9 or 8) achieved grades at GCSE, of whom
received an offer from the specified cohort
7) Mean number of A (Grade 7) achieved grades at GCSE, of whom received an
offer from the specified cohort
8) Mean number of Grade 6 achieved grades at GCSE, of whom received an
offer from the specified cohort
9) Mean number of Grade 5-U achieved grades at GCSE, of whom received an
offer from the specified cohort
The University is obliged to offer guidance as to what would be manageable
under the costs limit so with that in mind, it would be able to provide
answers to your first two questions namely the number of applicants and
the number of offers for the L112 Economics and Industrial Organisation
course in a specified academic year. If this information would be of
interest to you then please submit a refined request stating that you are
happy to proceed on the basis we have suggested and confirming which
academic year you would like this information for.
If you do submit a refined request, the University will treat it as a
substitute request to your original request and the 20 working day
statutory time limit will begin from the date your refined request is
received. In the absence of a refined request, the University will send an
official response to your original request, engaging the costs limit
exemption under section 12(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000
within the 20 working day limit.
Kind Regards
Legal and Compliance Services

Kind regards,
Legal and Compliance Services
