Dear Jamie,
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request of 17 April 2022.
We have completed the compilation of information in response to your
request which read as follows:
I would like to have the following information regarding the course "BA
History, Politics and Economics", “BA Politics, Philosophy & Eastern
European Studies” and “INFORMATION MANAGEMENT FOR BUSINESS BSC” for entry
years 2018, 2019, 2020,2021 & 2022
1) Number of applicants, number of offers sent, number of offers accepted.
2) The scores and subjects of A-levels pertained by offer-holders of both
UK and international applicants. Please ensure that the scores and
subjects are associated with the applicant. (ie. Applicant 1: Maths A,
History A, ...)
NOTE: where data is not available (e.g 2022)- please provide as much of it
as available.
We can confirm that we do hold information of the description specified in
your request and some of the information is provided in the attached
spreadsheet.
As you can see, we have withheld the data for question 2 because this is
personal data and is exempt from disclosure under section 40(2) and (3A)
of the Freedom of Information Act, the personal data exemption.
Section 40(2) and (3A) of the Freedom of Information Act exempts personal
information about a ‘third party’ (someone other than the requester), if
revealing it would breach the principles of the UK General Data Protection
Regulation (UK GDPR). The UK GDPR prevents personal information from
disclosure if it would be unfair or at odds with the reason why it was
collected. The first data protection principle is concerned with the fair
and lawful processing of personal data which is of issue in this instance.
The information contained personal data of individuals, including linking
their A-level results with their international status. There would be no
expectation that this type of information would be disclosed to the wider
public and it would be considered unfair to do so.
It is for these reasons that we have redacted or not disclosed such
personal data from the attached information under section 40(2) of the
Act.
However, if you would like to have aggregated a-level statistics and the
number of home or international students, please let me know.
You are free to use any information supplied for your own use, including
for non-commercial research purposes. The information may also be used for
the purposes of news reporting. However, any other type of re-use, for
example by publishing or issuing copies to the public, will require the
permission of the copyright owner.
If you are unhappy with our response to your request and wish to make a
complaint or request a review of our decision, please email
[1][email address]. Emails should include the words ‘Internal
Review’ in the subject and be marked For the Attention of the
Vice-President (Operations), alternatively you should write to:

Please note, complaints and requests for internal review received more
