Admissions Policy

F.L. Hunter made this Freedom of Information request to Glasgow Caledonian University

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Glasgow Caledonian University,

I would like a copy of your Undergraduate Admissions Policy, along with minutes from any meetings over the last three years where changes to this policy have been discussed.

I would like a copy of the standard letter you send making an offer (conditional and unconditional) to a prospective student; and a copy of the standard letter you send rejecting an applicant.

I would like you to confirm the average time taken to respond to Undergraduate applicants last year, with details of whether this varies depending on the type of offer made; or whether there is variation across the different academic areas of the the University.

Yours faithfully,

F.L. Hunter

Dear Mr/Ms Hunter

I refer to your request for information dated 20/02/10 (email below).

Glasgow Caledonian University’s Admissions Policy can be viewed at: http://www.gcu.ac.uk/registry/secretaria...

The meetings at which this policy was discussed are recorded on its title page. If you let me know what specific information you are looking for from these Minutes I will forward it to you. However the outcome of any discussions at these meetings is reflected in the Admissions Policy.

All undergraduate applications to Glasgow Caledonian University are undertaken via UCAS. Hence all offer or rejection letters are sent out by UCAS and not the University. The University does not have the standard letters that you have requested, but I would suggest that you contact UCAS directly (http://www.ucas.ac.uk/) for them. [Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 Para 17(1)(b)]

The University’s Student Information System does not currently record the average time taken to respond to applicants therefore we are unable to provide this information. [Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 Para 17(1)(b)]

Yours sincerely
