Admissions policies
Dear The Royal Latin School,
Having now finally published admissions procedures for 2024 entry and forward, can you now publish previous years' admissions procedures?
Can you clarify what is meant by the subjective assessment of whether a student would be "served" by attending Royal Latin School?
Yours faithfully,
Chandrika Punshon
Good afternoon
I acknowledge receipt of your Freedom of Information request and can
confirm that we will respond within 20 working days from Thursday 24th
April 2025.
Can we clarify which years admission policies are you referring to please?
You will note that the admissions policies for 2024, 2025 and 2026 are on
the school website under admissions.
With regard to your second point, could you specify where in the policy do
you see the following wording "the subjective assessment of whether a
student would be "served" by attending Royal Latin School" ?

Good morning
Please see below the answers to your questions:-
1. On the school website live currently are the following Admissions
policies:
2024 Entry
2025 Entry
2026 Entry
Should you require copies of our admission policies from 2014 through to
2023, please let us know.
2. We are unable to answer this question as we have not received a reply
to our email of 2nd May 2025 when we asked for some clarity from you.

Dear Data Protection,
In another reply in one of the seven FOI queries about admissions on this website alone, RLS wrote that you reseverve the right to deny students that aren't "served" by attending Royal Latin School.
I understand there's a new headteacher, but surely you can say from the data what this has meant in practice?
And yes, I would like copies of the admission policies that weren't published, specifically from 2022.
Yours sincerely,
Chandrika Punshon
Good morning
Thank you for your email which we will respond to during the week
commencing 2nd June 2025 which is after the half term break.

Good morning
For the Headteacher to answer your questions, please could you provide
further context to enable Mr Chislett to give you an accurate answer.
Please find attached the admissions policies as requested.

Dear Data Protection,
I think it would be best if Mr. Chislett did his own reading. It is inappropriate to ask me to do his research, and why would he believe me?
These are the policies, now what about all the late admissions? As I said, in actual practice, the anonymised late admissions please including admission points, and all other data you hold on the late admission students.
You certainly have this data and you have had, as I said, seven enquiries about admissions which you have denied, and admission policies that have been unpublished for possibly all 14 years that RLS has been an academy.
Yours sincerely,
Chandrika Punshon

Good afternoon
Thank you for your FOI request.
After careful consideration, we must inform you that we do not hold the
specific information you are requesting regarding late admissions into
Year 7. Admissions to Year 7 are managed by Buckinghamshire Council, the
local authority, on the school’s behalf. Therefore, any data relating to
individual or anonymised late admissions, including admission points and
related information, is held by the local authority rather than the
school.
Additionally, without further clarification on your use of the term
"served" in your question, we are unable to provide a meaningful response.
If you are able to clarify the context or intended meaning, we would be
happy to reconsider and assist further.
As previously noted, the admissions policies have been attached from 2022
to 2026 and provided as requested, I now attach the admissions policies
you have requested from 2014 up to and including 2021.
Please let us know if you are able to provide additional clarification so
we may respond appropriately to your enquiry.
