Dear Cheshire West and Chester Council,

1. Please could you provide copies of all policies/procedures/processes that are in place regarding admissions of children that are outside of their normal age group, for all types of schools who must follow CWAC admission procedures, and for all children, including those with SEN and/or EHCP's.

2. Please could you provide details of how many children attend schools within CWAC who have applied to CWAC to be changed age group. Please provide numbers for each school for the years 2015 - 2016, 2016 - 2017 and 2017 - 2018. Please confirm the number of applications accepted and the number refused. Please indicate where children had ECHPs. Please also make it clear what school year the child was in when the change was made. Please confirm if a child was moved up an age group or down.

3. Please provide full details of the Panel who considers applications for admission out of normal age group for all types of schools and provide a copies of any protocols/procedures that they must adhere to.

Dear Alexa Carter,

 

Thank you for your request for information of 11 October 2018 which has
been logged as RFI 0065 and has been dealt with under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000. We confirm that Cheshire West and Chester Council
holds information relating to your request.

 

For the purpose of clarity your request has been reproduced below and the
response is detailed in the attached documents and below:

 

Please could you provide:

Information not held.

The decision as whether it would be in the child’s best interest to be
educated outside the chronological year is determined by the head teacher
of the school concerned in agreement with the parent/carer. Therefore the
Local Authority do not hold any records of children that are educated
outside the chronological year apart from those who are summer born
wishing to delay school entry.

 

 

3.  Please provide full details of the Panel who considers applications
for admission out of normal age group for all types of schools and provide
a copies of any protocols/procedures that they must adhere to.

The Council considers that your request has been answered in full by
either confirming that information is not held, providing you with the
information requested, or explaining why any information has been withheld
and the reasons for any redaction. Where applicable, the Council has also
