Admissions information

We're waiting for Pattison to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear University of Cambridge,
Please could I have the spreadsheet mentioned in the communication below from Churchill College, for the last 2 cycles. Obviously with all names removed but data still intact showing criteria of candidates and if they were successful obtaining interview and offer.

"In the 2019 admissions round, Churchill College did not generate its own spreadsheets for any of Economics, English, Law, or PBS to assess if applicants should receive an interview or offer. Rather, we used the University's central moderation spreadsheets, which are produced by and held at the University of Cambridge Admissions Office. We do not hold copies of these spreadsheets on file."

Yours faithfully,

J Pattison

Dear University of Cambridge,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of University of Cambridge's handling of my FOI request 'Admissions information'.

Claiming students are identifiable by generic data is unfounded, you have no evidence to support your claim.
1 Other universities have released such information for years and no one has ever been identified.
2 No student is identifiable from the criteria I am asking for. No one can identify a student from number of GCSEs, A levels etc You would need a named student and all their data to match it to yours, which you would only know if you are entitled or have been given to you with permission. Because you give no names or address etc, no one is identifiable.
3 All educational analysis involves processing nameless data, I believe you are withholding this information to hide patterns or anomalies in your selection procedure, which you are not entitled to do as you are not allowed to do.
4 Previously your organisation denied holding this information at all, which shows this is not a "breaching" guidelines issue but one of you just don't want to say. You are a public institution and your decision making needs to be transparent and fair. The independent analysis of your data allows this. Withholding is to make you procedures opaque and open to abuse.
5 Oxford has provided such information

Please provide the information asked.
