Thank you for your email. Please consider this as confirmation that your
request has been received and will be processed in line with statutory
deadlines. If there are any delays in responding we will let you know.
Hi Amir,
With regards to your recent FoI enquiry, as you have only identified yourself by your first name and initial please can you supply appropriate proof of your correct identity, such as a scan of your passport of driver's licence.
I am seeking this information as there is a possibility that we may exempt some of the information you have requested. In such cases, it is important that we are able to refer to your real name in order to allow you to request an internal review or ultimately complain to the ICO if you choose to do so, as both the LSE and the ICO do not accept first-name only requests in their tribunals. Please note: This information will not be retained once your identify has been confirmed.
Could I ask you to think about the underlying question that is prompting your data request. If you are attempting to find out what are your chances of getting a place, remember that this cannot be answered by reference to data. Applications are considered on their individual merits, based on a holistic view of your supporting documents in the context of the current cohort. Figures from previous years will not offer any insight on your application. Your best way to find the answer is to apply. However, please let me know if you wish us to proceed with obtaining the information requested.
Best Wishes,
The Information Rights Team
London School of Economics
Dear GLPD.Info.Rights,
Thank you for getting back to me. I really appreciate it.
In relation to your assertion that some of the information I have requested may be exempt, I would kindly ask for clarification on which specific aspects of my request you believe may fall under such exemptions. I am more than willing to provide further clarification or adjust my request if necessary to facilitate your response.
I would also like to highlight an FOI (4921) request dated 19/03/2023 by Moises Bentata [https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/a..., which was accepted and is almost identical to mine but for previous years. That request was even extended to include GCSE grades, and the response provided suggests a precedent for handling such inquiries. This precedent could potentially be referenced should there be any dispute or tribunal over the handling of my request.
Lastly, I must politely decline your request to upload my passport or driver’s license to a public website. It is, without a doubt, a suggestion that inspires great confidence in its practicality and security. The legitimacy of a Freedom of Information request does not rest on the submission of such extraordinary proofs of identity, particularly when the very nature of the process is designed to ensure accessibility and transparency for all.
Yours sincerely,
AMIR TIBERIUS
Hi Amir,
Thanks for your response. As you have provided your full name, which is required under FoI, then we will not require further identification.
Can I clarify a few things for the staff working on this request:
Is it A Levels that you are interested in when you refer to Further Maths and number of A*s?
Also is your enquiry in relation to Home, Overseas or all applicants please?
Thanks,
The Information Rights Team
London School of Economics
Dear Team,
Thank you for getting back to me. Much appreciated.
Yes, I'm referring to A-levels please. And my inquiry is in relation to home applicants.
Thank you very much
Yours sincerely,
AMIR T
