Admissions enquiry for L250 course

The request was refused by London School of Economics.

Dear London School of Economics,

Under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act, I would kindly like to request the following information regarding the BSc International Relations course (L250) for the past five admission cycles:

1. The number of applicants who completed a foundation year at another University and applied for your L250 programme.
2. The amount of applicants who fit the above criteria (completed a foundation year at another University) who received an invitation for the UGAA.
3. The number of applicants (refer to 2) who received an offer for the L250 course or an alternative course after completing the UGAA.
4. The A-Levels of the applicants referred to in 2 (if this is possible for you to disclose).

Yours faithfully,

Aneeqa Usman.

Thank you for your email. As you will appreciate, information requests
place additional demands on the School in terms of costs and staff time.
At present we are having to prioritise our finite resources in order to
meet the unprecedented challenges we are facing during the Coronavirus
(COVID-19) pandemic.  As such, we need to advise you that while we will
continue to process individual requests, you may experience some delay in
our response during the current pandemic.

Dear Aneeqa

Further to your recent FoI request, the Schools response is provided below:

The information you have requested is not held by the School and the amount of work necessary to indentify, compile, calculate and manually check such information would exceed cost limits. As such, your request is refused under FoI Section 12.

Please note: any information that were were able to obtain by the manual examination of five years of admission records in an attempt to answer your specific questions would carry a high margin of error, as the School has no reliable way of determining from the information held, if someone studied a stand-alone foundation year, or if they studied one year of a standard three-year degree.

If you think that the information provided does not meet your request, contact Rachael Maguire at [email address] or write to Louise Nadal, School Secretary, London School of Economics and Political Science, Houghton Street, London, WC2A 2AE. We will then review the response to your request and get back to you within 20 working days. You can also contact the Information Commissioner's Office http://www.ico.gov.uk/, though they expect the internal review to be carried out before receiving a complaint directly.

The provision of information by the LSE under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 does not imply a right to copy, reproduce publish or otherwise use such information.  Copying or reproducing such information in any way either in whole or in part without prior written consent may be an infringement of copyright or other intellectual property right belonging to the LSE or a third party.

Best Wishes,

Paul
