Thank you for your email. As you will appreciate, information requests
place additional demands on the School in terms of costs and staff time.
At present we are having to prioritise our finite resources in order to
meet the unprecedented challenges we are facing during the Coronavirus
(COVID-19) pandemic. As such, we need to advise you that while we will
continue to process individual requests, you may experience some delay in
our response during the current pandemic.
Dear London School of Economics,
The response to my request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, the authority should have responded by now. Please can you kindly respond to this request at your earliest convenience, thank you so much for your help.
Yours faithfully,
Rose Xu

Dear Rose,
Further to your recent FoI request, the Schools response is provided in
the attached spreadsheet alongside the following clarifications below:
Your request “WIth AS or A-level" can be interpreted different ways using
the data we receive from UCAS. As such, the attached spreadsheet contains
three tables which we believe capture all reasonable interpretations of
your request.
Each table shows a breakdown of applicants by year and offer status:
Table 1: Splits the applicants into the following groups:
i) AS-level Further Mathematics, already completed and grade awarded at
the time of application submission.
ii) AS-level Further Mathematics, not completed at the time of application
submission.
iii) A-level Further Mathematics, already completed and grade awarded at
the time of application submission
iv) A-level Further Mathematics, not completed at the time of application
submission.
Table 2: Splits the applicants into the following groups:
i) AS-Level Further Mathematics, completed or incomplete
ii) A-Level Further Mathematics, completed or incomplete
Table 3: Splits the applicants into the following groups:
i) AS-Level or A-Level Further Mathematics, completed or incomplete.
Please be aware that there is a natural inconsistency to how students and
schools will list and report on qualification data, especially with
regards to ongoing qualifications. As such, some students may have both
AS-level and A-level records, whereas some may not.
Could I ask you to think about the underlying question that is prompting
your data request. If you are attempting to find out what are your chances
of getting a place, remember that this cannot be answered by reference to
data. Applications are considered on their individual merits, based on a
holistic view of your supporting documents in the context of the current
cohort. Figures from previous years will not offer any insight on your
application. Your best way to find the answer is to apply.
If you think that the information provided does not meet your request,
contact Rachael Maguire on 020 7849 4622 or write to Louise Nadal, School
Secretary, London School of Economics and Political Science, Houghton
Street, London, WC2A 2AE. We will then review the response to your request
and get back to you within 20 working days. You can also contact the
Information Commissioner's Office [1]http://www.ico.gov.uk/, though they
expect the internal review to be carried out before receiving a complaint
directly.
