Many thanks for your enquiry below dated 14 October 2024.  Your request is
considered to be invalid at present and to enable this to be taken forward
under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA), I would be
grateful if you could confirm your surname please. Is this as it appears
in your email address?

I am asking for this point of clarification as part of the University’s
duty under Section 15 of the FOISA is to provide advice and assistance to
enquirers. Details of your name is important for two reasons:

• For a request to be valid under section 8(1)(b) of the FOISA the name
of the applicant needs to be stated in the enquiry – a request with
only the first name of an applicant in the body of an email does not
meet this requirement.
• To safeguard your own rights. In the event that the University
answered your enquiry in such a way that you were unhappy with the
response given, after an internal review, your next course of action
would be to appeal to the Scottish Information Commissioner. The
Commissioner however, is unable to deal with any applications where it
is found that the original enquiry was invalid as in this case.

Having reviewed your enquiry, I can however, advise that we are unable to
supply the data you are looking for as details of an applicant’s
qualifications are not captured in our records in a reportable format.
