Admission for Postgraduate Courses in Dentistry
Dear University of Manchester,
I was wondering if it would be possible to produce a breakdown of admission statistics for each of the postgraduate course in dentistry for the academic cycle of 2019/2020, 2020/2021 and 2021/2022. This includes the numbers of applicants, interviews offered and final offers given.
I would also request for a copy of the scoring criteria and interview forms that the university use to assess a candidate during the latest interview for these postgraduate dental courses, if it is possible.
Thanks.
Yours faithfully,
Mr Ibrahim

Dear Mr Ibrahim,
Thank you for your request for information received by The University of
Manchester on 03 February 2022 which was as follows:
I was wondering if it would be possible to produce a breakdown of
admission statistics for each of the postgraduate course in dentistry for
the academic cycle of 2019/2020, 2020/2021 and 2021/2022. This includes
the numbers of applicants, interviews offered and final offers given.
I would also request for a copy of the scoring criteria and interview
forms that the university use to assess a candidate during the latest
interview for these postgraduate dental courses, if it is possible.
The University has now considered your request and attached are the
numbers available for 2020 entry and 2021 entry for our PGT dentistry
courses. We cannot provide numbers for 2022 entry at this stage as the
cycle is ongoing.
In terms of the second question, we haven’t any information on marking
criteria for Periodontology however for the other courses, please see
below and attached.
Endodontics
Endodontics – the candidate is notified in the email invitation to
interview that they will be asked to give an oral presentation on an
Endodontic related topic. Proforma used attached.
Fixed and removable prosthodontics
interviewed this year and for previous intake (none last year).
Confirmatory questions based on each applicants written application, not
separately scored. No proforma.
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Last year was the first year we conducted interviews. The candidates were
asked the same 2 questions, one being a clinical scenario and then scored
by the interviewers. We then ranked the applicants. Any red flags raised
in the answers resulted in a reject.
I trust this information is of use to you.
Kind regards
Sharon
