The request was successful.

Dear Ministry of Defence,

Under the Freedom of information act can you tell me if some, or all of the type 45 Destroyers, now in service are to be fitted with weapons from recently retired type 22 block 3 hulls in the near future?

Namely, Harpoon and anti-submarine torpedo tubes.

Yours faithfully,

T A Dainton

Dear DES SEC-PolSecShips and Subs (MULTIUSER),

I wonder if you could qualify your reply to this question on the type 45 armament.

Whilst I am pleased to hear of the reuse of the four harpoon systems from the retired type22 batch 3 frigates on four of the type 45's, are there any plans in place to equip the remaining two type 45 hulls by purchasing two extra systems?

Also, if I may be permitted, could you clarify any future plans to equip the type 45's with a more capable main gun, when the type 26 enters service, presumably of the same type, to maintain an simplified logistic chain with only one calibre of ammunition?

Yours sincerely,

T A Dainton
