Activity in schools

Barbara Forbes made this Freedom of Information request to British Army

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear British Army,

I would be grateful if you could send me the following information:

Details of all schools (with post-codes if possible) visited by the British Army in Birmingham and Sandwell between September 2010 and July 2013, listed by local authority and to include local authority schools, academies, free schools, private schools and sixth-form colleges.

How many times did they visited each of those schools?

What year groups in those schools were visited?

What kind of activity were they engaged in when they visited those schools (e.g. careers days, presentations, schools challenge, other [please specify])?

Which schools have a Combined Cadet Force?

Yours faithfully,
Barbara Forbes

Dear Ms Forbes,

Please find attached response to your FOI requests of 12 September.

Dear British Army,

I have received a reply to my FOI request about army activity in schools. The reply states that you do not hold information about such activity for the period 2010 - 2012 but can only provide information from March 2013. I find this puzzling as both the Navy and the RAF have a detailed record of their activities, and I am sure that the British Army is just as organised and punctilious about keeping records.

I would be grateful if you could clarify why this information seems to be missing.

Yours faithfully,

Barbara Forbes

Dear Pers Trg-Sec-Parly Gp Mailbox (MULTIUSER),

In your reply to my request for information about visits to schools carried out by the British Army, you said that you were unable to provide information about visits prior to March 2013. I am, however, aware that for other geographical regions (e.g. Cheshire) you have been able to produce an extremely detailed and comprehensive breakdown of such visits.

You also provide the overall number of visits made in the academic year 2012/13. I would be grateful if you could send me a more detailed account of the schools which were visited.

Many thanks.

Yours sincerely,

Barbara Forbes
