Active Travel routes and equality impacts

The request was partially successful.

Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,

Please provide evidence as to how the Public Sector Equality Duty (contained in section 149 of the Equality Act 2010) has been considered and discharged in relation to specific 'active travel' routes Fender Lane (Moreton), LCWIP Phase 1 (Wallasey) and Harrison Drive (Wallasey).

I would also be grateful for a copy of any Equality Impact Assessments in relation to the above and details of any specific discussions or correspondence with the RNIB or National Federation of the Blind.

Thanks

Yours faithfully,

Ian Lewis

Dear Councillor Lewis

Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding active travel routes and
equality impact assessments (EIA).

Please find EIAs in relation to

•              Fender Lane (Moreton), attached

•              Harrison Drive (Wallasey) - attached

•              LCWIP Phase 1 (Wallasey) - see

Members of Highways staff have previously had on-line meetings with RNIB
representatives to discuss active travel and scheme proposals.  The RNIB
sit on Wirral’s Active Forum and are invited to each meeting and receive
all correspondence regarding scheme proposals.  Their representative
attends regularly and has had direct engagement with members of highways
and regeneration staff who have also undertaken training sessions provided
by RNIB representatives, including guided walks where various levels and
types of vision are simulated.

Yours sincerely
