Action by Leicestershire Police under Protection from Eviction Act 1977
Dear Leicestershire Police and Crime Panel,
Under the Protection from Eviction Act 1977, namely Part One of the act, it makes it a criminal offence to unlawfully evict a residential occupier from their home or for the landlord of a residential occupier to harass their tenant.
I would like to understand how many reports have been made to Leicestershire Police reporting unlawful eviction and harassment from their landlord respectively over the last 10 years and how many of these reports have been actioned by Leicestershire Police and resulted in prosecution, and how many of these reports have been deemed a "civil matter" where no further action has been taken?
For more information on the Protection from Eviction Act 1977, you can see the following link: https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/197...
I would like the information to be provided on a yearly basis, with the number of reports each year and how many of those have been 1) attended by police, 2) resulted in prosecution and 3) determined to be a "civil matter" where no further action has been taken.
