Dear Department for Education,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Education's handling of my FOI request 'Acquisition costs on sites where the DfE owns the Freehold).'.

The DfE says I can find details of site costs at the Land Registry website. As the DfE must be aware, searching the Land Registry requires the searcher to have site information (eg address or Ordinance Survey reference). As the DfE must also be aware, I do not have this information because the DfE has not provided it.

The DfE also says it intends to publish acquisition costs when work, including building, on a free school is completed. But this will not show information about freehold sites acquired for free schools which were sold before being used. This would allow acquisition costs of aborted projects to remain hidden.

I would be grateful, therefore, if you could review the DfE's handling of this request.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/a...

Yours faithfully,

J Downs
