Acquisition and build cost of marinas operated by BWML, and current book value.

The request was successful.

Dear British Waterways Board,

I am trying to ascertain the total cost of purchasing and/or constructing the 18 marinas that you own or have acquired. It is not itemised in your accounts, 2010.

I would also like to know the current book value of those 18 marinas as at Mar 2010 (the last financial year for which accounts are available).

Thank you for your assistance.

Yours faithfully,

Dominic Miles

Chris Gray,

Dear Mr Miles

Freedom of Information request - Acquisition and build cost of marinas
operated by BWML, and current book value. FOIA014/11 Mr Miles

Further to my correspondence with you of 31^st January, I am responding to
your request for:

“1. The total cost of purchasing and/or constructing the 18
marinas that you own or have acquired.

2. The current book value of those 18 marinas as at Mar 2010 (the
last financial year for which accounts are available.”

I will set out responses to your requests as listed above:

1. The historic cost of the 18 marinas operated by BWML and
contained in BW’s group balance sheet is £17.3m as at 31^st March
2010. This includes goodwill arising on acquisition.

2. The net book value of the 18 marinas operated by BWML and
contained in BW’s group accounts is £15.2m as at 31^st March 2010. This
is the “current book value” as they are held at cost less depreciation
in the group accounts in accordance with group accounting policies.
Goodwill is held at cost less amortisation.

Please note that 14 of the 18 marinas operated by BWML are on leases from
BW where an open market rent, set at a % of turnover in each case, is paid
to BW. In the year ended 31^st March 2010 this amounted to £690,000 in
total.

If we haven’t reasonably met your expectations in relation to a request
for information or you believe we may not have acted in accordance with
the above legislation you should write in the first instance to Kelly
Radley Head of Customer Relations, 64 Clarendon Road, Watford, Herts WD17
