Accuracy of FOI responses
Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,
On 3rd February 2021 I submitted an FOI request (RFI20210221) concerning proximity detectors used by the BBC. In your response, you kindly told me "The BBC has purchased 2250 devices" and "These devices have been purchased outright by the BBC.". I note the use of the word "purchased" twice.
In a follow-up request (RFI20230665) I asked what had happened to these devices purchased by the BBC and was told "our response to RFI20210221 should have stated that the BBC hired 2250 devices. The BBC did not purchase these devices outright", directly contradicting your 2021 response.
This leaves me with little trust in the FOI system, in that I thought it provided accurate and truthful information.
I doubt that this is the only occurrence and feel sure you will have details on file, so please provide a list (for example. date, number and subject) of any other FOI request responses from the last five years that have been found to contain incorrect information.
Yours faithfully,
Mr A Willmore
