We understand that we do not have to specify particular file or document names and it is the relevant department's responsibility to provide the information I require.
If you cannot provide the complete responses to our requests within the scope mentioned below, please provide what available information you have and an explanation for why you cannot provide the data requested.
I ask that you justify all omissions by reference to specific exemptions of the act.

I reserve the right to appeal your decision to withhold any information or to charge excessive fees.

If there are any omissions due to the data having already been published, we would politely request that the information is clearly signposted in the response to our request, in the interests of accessibility.

2. We would like to request the number of complaints students that have lived in student halls since the start of the academic year 2016/2017 through to 2020/2021 have made regarding their accommodation to the University of Glasgow or their associate subsidiary, or their accommodation provider.

FOI Office,

Thank you for your email. The staff of the University of Glasgow,
including the Data Protection & Freedom of Information Office, are working
off-campus as a result of COVID-19.

Due to the current lockdown and resultant caring responsibilities, the
working patterns of many members of University staff may be different, and
it may take longer to respond to your request.

Please be assured that we will endeavour, where possible, to respond to
you as soon as we can.

FOI Office,

Dear applicant,

In order to take forward your email, received 17 February 2021 timed 12:54 hours as a valid FOI request, please note the following advice from the Scottish Information Commissioner’s website:

“The Act says that a request must include the name of the applicant and an address for correspondence. The Commissioner has confirmed that an e-mail address is sufficient when you are asking for information. However, if you send your request by email, you must give your name in the body of the email to fulfil the requirement that the name of the applicant is given. Even if your name appears in your email address (e.g. [email address]) you must add your name to the text of your request, so that it is clear who the email is from.
You must give your real name, as the public authority does not have to answer your request if you have used a false name or pseudonym. The Commissioner will not be able to carry out an investigation if he finds out that you have used a false name.

If you have particular reasons for not wanting to reveal your identity to the public authority, you should ask a friend or family member to make the request for information.”

Yours sincerely,
