Dear Mr Waters

Our Ref:         FOI-1392-1415

Thank you for your e-mail received on 20 November 2014 asking for
information about collisions involving cyclists. Please accept my
apologies for the delay in responding.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of
the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Unfortunately TfL does not hold the information you have requested.

We do not collate or record statistics specifically relating to collisions
caused to pedestrians by cyclists as you have requested. Any recorded
description and contributory factors held by TfL regarding collisions only
provide an indication of how the collision occurred, however this is very
subjective as it is the reporting officer’s opinion and most incidents
have not been subject to an extensive investigated.

We can, however, provide the number of pedestrians injured in direct
conflict with a pedal cycle. Additionally we publish road safety
factsheets on our website which includes details of collisions by vehicles
involved:

Please also find attached a table providing further detail on the severity
of the pedestrian casualty injured in conflict with a pedal cycle by year
in Greater London – 2011 to 2013.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for some reason, please feel free to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to
appeal.

Yours sincerely
