Accessibility of council websites

The request was partially successful.

Dear Richmond upon Thames Borough Council,

Can you tell me when was the last audit conducted and can I have results of that audit?

Also what steps is Richmond taking to make sure that websites are accessable by September 23 2020?

Yours faithfully,

Abdul Hai

Dear Abdul Hai

Thank you for the clarification on the second point.

The department has requested a clarification on the first query: What
audit is it relating to? Is it in relation to the work undertaken by
Internal Audit or is it referring to the External Audit of the Council’s
accounts?

Please note while we are awaiting this clarification your request will be
placed on hold.

Dear FOI LBR,

It is in regards to the audit of how accessable the council website is? The web team should run regular audits.

Nothing to do with finance.

Yours sincerely,

Abdul Hai

Request for Information - LBR2019/0636 - Audit

I refer to your request for information received on 04/10/2019.  Please
see the information below in response to your request: -

Can you tell me when was the last audit conducted and can I have results
of that audit. This is in regards to the audit of how accessable the
council website is. The web team should run regular audits.

We do not have the date of or result of a formal audit. Accessibility is
treated as part of our day to day work in the Digital Team.

We ensure that new website developments and changes that we make are
accessible by testing them before publishing and developing to the
guidelines set in WCAG 2.1.  Our automated checking tool give us daily
updates. This currently gives an overall accessibility score of 92.3/100.

Also what steps is Richmond taking to make sure that websites are
accessable by September 23 2020? - I mean in relation to the new
regulations [2]https://accessibility.campaign.gov.uk/

Richmond are reviewing the accessibility of our websites using a
combination of automated tools and manual testing. We will be publishing
an accessibility on the website shortly and will fix any issues that we
identify.

We trust this response satisfies your request.
