Access to the Parliamentary Estate

The request was successful.

Dear House of Lords,

You have stated that there are ways of gaining access to the Parliamentary estate without the registering of passes.

Which entrances are not subject to electronic checking of passes?

Yours faithfully,

Nick Leaton

FOI LORDS, House of Lords

Dear Mr. Leaton

I am writing in response to your request for information received by the
House of Lords on 30 May.

As you will recall, in response to your earlier request I stated that
Peers Entrance is one such example of an entrance where access is gained
following a manual pass check by security staff rather than by use of an
electronic pass reader. On further investigation, I can confirm that
this is in fact the only House of Lords entrance where this is the case.
Access via all other entrances in the House of Lords’ areas of the
Palace of Westminster and to other buildings occupied by the House of
Lords involve the use of electronic pass readers.

You may, if dissatisfied with the treatment of your request for
information, ask the House of Lords to conduct an internal review.
Requests for an internal review should be addressed to
[1][email address] or to the Freedom of Information Officer, House
of Lords, London SW1A 0PW. Arrangements will be made for someone who has
not been involved in dealing with your request to conduct an internal
review. Our aim is to complete internal reviews within 20 working days.

If, following this review, you remain dissatisfied with the House’s
treatment of your request for information then you may take your complaint
to the Information Commissioner at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow,
Cheshire. SK9 5AF.

Yours sincerely,

Alex Daybank
