Academic Year Restructure

Ewan McLean made this Freedom of Information request to Glasgow Caledonian University

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Glasgow Caledonian University,

Under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act I would like to know what student consultation was undertaken which consented to the removal of the study break between the end of Trimester 1 and the start of the trimester 1 exam diet and the changing from a semester system to trimester system. I note that Student Parliament approved a timetable which featured a semester (not trimester) system with a study break however this is not what the university has implemented. I am seeking to establish what consultation led to this change.

Yours faithfully,

Ewan McLean

Dear Freedom of Information Enquiries,

Thank you for this helpful information.

Can you clarify/confirm that the only consultation undertaken to ask students about removing the study break was a discussion at Senate where two students were present? If discussions on removing the study break took place during meetings of the Task Group and Project Group, can you please provide the appropriate sections from these minutes?

Yours sincerely,

Ewan McLean
