Abu Qatada's crime or crimes

John Goss made this Freedom of Information request to Home Office

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Home Office should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

From: John Goss

18 June 2013

Dear Home Office,

There appear to be no details about any crime committed by Abu
Qatada in this country, yet he is portrayed by the media and the
Home Office as a pariah.

1) Has Abu Qatada committed a crime, or crimes, in this country?

2) If he has committed a crime could you please state what his
crime(s) was(were)?

3) If he has not committed a crime can I ask why he has been
imprisoned for so long?

4) Does the Home Office operate a system of racism (religionism if
you like) against Islam?

5) Can you tell me please how many people have been held in custody
under the Anti-Terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001 and then the
Protection of Terrorism Act 2005?

6) How many of those held under the aforementioned acts were
Muslim?

7) How many of those held under the aforementioned acts were
non-Muslim?

8) Was Abu Qatada ever a resource of the security services?

9) If yes, who did he work for?

Thank you for your cooperation.

Yours faithfully,

John Goss

Dear FOI Requests,

All I have had in response to the important questions raised in
this FOI request has been an acknowledgement of receipt. I consider
this to be most unsatisfactory since by law a response should have
been made by 17 July 2013. Can somebody let me know what is causing
the delay? If no response is received forthwith I shall be
requesting an internal review.

Yours sincerely,

John Goss

Dear FOI Requests,

I have been informed that an internal review has been completed,
and an apology was also given for the delay, but I have still
received no answers to any of the questions I raised. Under the law
a response should have been made by 17 July 2013 to an original
request of 18 June 2013. I believe that this request has been
treated with disdain. There are no trick questions.

Yours sincerely,

John Goss
