Absence and sickness throughout the trust

Daniel Asquith made this Freedom of Information request to Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Humber NHS Foundation Trust,

I am making a request under the Freedom of Information Act regarding absence and sickness throughout the Trust.

I would like any data sets relating to sickness and absence along with any statistical evaluation and internal reports regarding this matter. If possible I would like this data breaking down into business unit/department/job role where ever possible.

I would also like any data/figures relating to cost incurred by the Trust as a result of the above sickness/absence figures, again broken down as far as possible.

Please could you also furnish me with figures etc. relating to maternity leave if these are not included in the above.

Yours faithfully,

Daniel Asquith

Dear Mr Asquith

I am writing to confirm that the Humber NHS Foundation Trust has now
completed its search for the information which you requested on 26
November 2010.

You asked for the following:

Any data sets relating to sickness and absence along with any statistical
evaluation and internal reports regarding this matter. If possible I would
like this data breaking down into business unit/department/job role where
ever possible.

Please find attached the data set on sickness absence that are produced
for the Board on a monthly basis (this set covers the period Nov 09 to Oct
10) and for the Business Units in the Trust.

I would also like any data/figures relating to cost incurred by the Trust
as a result  of the above sickness/absence figures, again broken down as
far as possible.

The Trust does not produce reports on the cost of absence routinely but
for the period Nov 09 to Oct 10 the cost to the Trust for that period was
£2,915,158. This is for all absences including maternity leave and is
calculated using an average salary cost per day plus employers costs (NI,
Pension). It does not include the cost of covering for absence (e.g.
overtime, bank staff etc)

Please could you also furnish me with figures etc. relating to maternity
leave if these are not included in the above.

Similarly the Trust does not produce reports pertaining to maternity leave
routinely however the percentage absence rate due to maternity leave
across the Trust for the period Nov 09 to Oct 10 was 1.12%.

I hope my response has covered all the information which you requested.

To help us measure our performance in responding to Freedom of Information
requests I wonder if you will take a little time to complete the attached
form and return it to me at this e mail address.

Dear Harmer, Graham,

Thank you for your swift response to my FOI request.

Your response time was the fastest from any NHS Trust I have requested such information from and second only to the Department for Health.

However, the form you asked me to fill in and e-mail back to you does not appear to be attached to your reply.

Yours sincerely,

Daniel Asquith
