Dear Aberdeen City Council,

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I would like to request data on roadworks carried out under your authority.

Can I please receive a total count of roadworks that the council carried out within the date ranges of:
01/04/2016 - 31/03/2017
01/04/2017 - 31/03/2018
01/04/2018 - 31/03/2019

If I could please receive this as a total count for each year individually that would be fantastic.

Yours faithfully,

Russ Hunter

Thank you for your request for information, made under Section 1(1) of the
Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act (FOISA), and received on 19 February

data on roadworks

We would be extremely grateful if you could clarify what you mean by
‘roadworks’? Are you referring to all areas of road maintenance i.e.
pothole filling, replacement road signs, any verge work etc? or are you
interested in any significant road maintenance or development projects
i.e. resurfacing stretches of road, underground pipework etc?

Clarifying these points will help us to be sure we are providing, where
possible, the information you are interested in. Please note we will keep
your request on file for 20 working days whilst we await your
clarification. It can often be helpful to discuss your request with a
member of our team who may be able to help you frame your request or
explain more about how ACC holds its information; if this is something you
feel may be helpful please do call us, and we will be happy to assist you.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Dear Mr Hunter,

Thank you for your information request of 02 March 2020.  Aberdeen City
Council (ACC) has completed the necessary search for the information
requested. Our response is now detailed below.

Can I please receive a total count of roadworks that the council carried
out within the date ranges of:

01/04/2016 - 31/03/2017

01/04/2017 - 31/03/2018

01/04/2018 - 31/03/2019

Clarification received: I wish to include all forms of road maintenance
and development projects, if possible.

We are unable to provide you the required information as it is not held,
we would only have a record of the large projects not all the small works
that are carried out. We would also have no record of all the road works
carried out by developers/outside contractors and Public Utility
companies.

We are unable to provide you with information on a total count of
roadworks that the council carried out within 01/04/2016 - 31/03/2017,
01/04/2017 - 31/03/2018 and 01/04/2018 - 31/03/2019 as it is not held by
ACC.  In order to comply with our obligations under the terms of Section
17 of the FOISA, we hereby give notice that this information is not held
by us.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE HANDLING OF YOUR REQUEST

We handled your request for information in accordance with the provisions
of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002. Please refer to the
attached PDF for more information about your rights under FOISA.

We hope this helps with your request.
