Abandoned Dogs

There was a delivery error or similar, which needs fixing by the WhatDoTheyKnow team. Can you help by finding updated contact details?

Dear Bradford City Council,

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I am seeking data on reports and instances of abandoned dogs within your council’s jurisdiction during the period from 1st January 2020 to 31st December 2024.

Specifically, I would like to request the following information:

The total number of abandoned dogs that were reported to your council each month between January 2020 and December 2024.

The total number of abandoned dogs that were taken in, seized, or otherwise handled by your council each month during this period.

If possible, I would appreciate the data being presented as a month-by-month breakdown for each of the years in question (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024).

If providing a full month-by-month breakdown would exceed cost or time limits, I would be happy to discuss ways to refine my request. Please let me know how I may adjust it to ensure that it falls within the cost limits of the Act.

If you require any clarification regarding this request, please do not hesitate to get in touch. I am happy to provide any additional details necessary to facilitate the processing of this request.

I would be grateful if you could acknowledge receipt of this request and provide an estimated timeframe for your response.

Thank you for your assistance.

Yours Faithfully,
Mr L Honeghan

Dear Bradford City Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Bradford City Council's handling of my FOI request 'Abandoned Dogs'.

While I understand that the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 allow for refusals under Regulation 12(4)(a) when information is not held, I am concerned that you did not seek clarification from me before issuing this refusal. The request for data on abandoned dogs may have been interpreted too narrowly or in a way that does not reflect the full scope of the information available or my intended query.

For clarity, I am also seeking information specifically on:
The number of stray dogs handled by the Council's Dog Warden Service.
Any records of stray dogs reported to, collected by, or otherwise dealt with by the Council.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/a...

Yours faithfully,

Mr Honeghan
