A request to see the data supplied to the Government for their proposed changes to FtT fees.

The request was successful.

Dear Leasehold Advisory Service,

The Ministry of Justice quotes figures supplied by yourselves in their consultation document proposing to increase the fees payable at the Fist tier Tribunal.

The figures they quote relate to 840 Leasehold Enfranchisement and valuation cases lodged between 1994 and 2006 at the then Leasehold Valuation Tribunal.

Could you please supply me with a copy of this information.

Yours faithfully,

Louie Burns

Dear Mr Burns

Please find attached a copy of the data that was provided by LEASE to the
Ministry of Justice (act93.csv), as well as a copy of the data they used
in their analysis (LEASE data.xls) which was derived from the file
provided by LEASE. In providing a copy of the spreadsheet containing data
from LEASE, the MoJ analyst commented as follows:

"The spreadsheet is just the information that is available online but in a
useable format.

"In the Consultation Document and the Impact Assessment, the figures
quoted were simply descriptive statistics based on the data that was
provided. The £142k figure is the average value of a case and £14,600 is
the median."

As an organisation, LEASE aims to be as helpful as possible in the way it
deals with requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act
2000. If, however, you are not satisfied with the way in which your
request has been handled or the outcome, you may request an internal
review within two calendar months of the date of this reply by contacting
our principal sponsor, the Department for Communities and Local Government
at [email address].

In the event that you remain dissatisfied following the Department’s
review you have the right to apply directly to the Information
Commissioner (ICO) for a decision. Generally, the ICO cannot make a
decision unless you have exhausted the Internal Review procedure provided
by the Department.

If you have any queries about this reply or require other information,
please contact me.

Yours sincerely

Audrey Minton, for
