A level Physics and Chemistry mark distribution

Lucy Bamford made this Freedom of Information request to AQA
This authority is not subject to FOI law, so is not legally obliged to respond (details).

This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was successful.

Dear AQA,

I'm writing to request the provision of the raw mark distributions from 2018 and 2019 for A level Physics, giving the distributions for each option separately (ie. Astrophysics, Turning Points, ... each with their distributions separately.) If all options cannot be provided, then please prioritise Turning Points (option D) and then Astrophysics (option A), and then the most popular from there on.

I would also like to request the raw mark distributions from 2017, 2018 and 2019 for A level Chemistry, in a separate document.

For clarity, the distributions themselves should have the frequency for each possible attainable mark (0 if the mark is unattained), then a cumulative frequency and a corresponding cumulative percentage associated to each mark.

I request that you forward this email to your Centre for Education Research and Practice (CERP) team for collation of the data.

Yours faithfully,

Lucy Bamford

Dear AQA,

Thank you for the assistance thus far. I had just one more question; how long the request will take to complete?

Yours sincerely,

Good Morning Lucy,

AQA are not subject to freedom of information requests as we are not a
government entity, these are being shared with because they are not
commercially sensitive documents and we have them easily accessible on
file.

Attached are the distributions for A-level Physics and Chemistry, albeit
not quite in the specified format. The document produced that has the
cumulative frequencies is independent of route to award, so does not show
the various physics options as you have stated - as such I’ve sent you a
file that does have the routes to awarding in it but has no cumulative
frequency.

Dear Data,

Thank you for the prompt response.
Just for clarity, do you know what the "SUMMARY" statistics each correspond to (in the physics distributions)? A couple are obvious, and the other few not so much.

Yours sincerely,

Lucy Bamford

Morning Lucy,

That is reference data for our software, it is information about the previous year for the same award to compare current year figures to.

Regards,
AQA Data.
