Dear Brighton and Hove City Council,

I have a few questions about the new A270 cycle lanes that have been installed on/around the 10th May 2020.

1. How much money did the scheme roughly cost. Please breakdown costs of, prelim, design, construction labour, materials. Or any other sections as you see fit.
2. Could I have the drawings of the road layout for the entire length of this scheme.
2a. What, if any are the alterations that were constructed when compared to the drawings
3. Drawing of the scheme, showing precisely where all signage (new, altered or removed) is.
3a. Drawings of all signs that are not a standard diagram
4. Could I have all documents relating to the safety assessment of this scheme.
5. At what point is this cycle lane going to be reverted back into a standard lane? (not a specific date, but what criteria would you be looking for, to start changing it back)
6. How much money is it estimated to cost to reverse the works?
7. Have any of the traffic lights had their phasing/timings changed to account for more cycle traffic, therefore requiring longer inter-green times?
Yours faithfully,

Thomas Jarvis

Dear Brighton and Hove City Council,

Thank you for update.

If it would be possible, I'd like to ask 2 more questions in relation to this FOI, if this can be answered the same time as the other questions (by 2 weeks time) that would be great, or answered in the standard FOI time that would be acceptable.

8. If a decision is made to retain these cycle lanes (on the A270) permanently, what other measures are or have been considered to improve this section of the cycle lane. And is possible please include a likelihood of these measures taking place if a rough assessment on those measure please.
For example, "Low level signals for cyclists at traffic lights", "Cyclists get green light before motor traffic", "Reduction in speed limit", "permanent physical separation" etc
9. Is there any interest from Sustrans NCN to include Old Shoreham Road as a Western extension of NCN Route 90, in the event that is becomes permanent.

Yours sincerely,

Thomas Jarvis
