Dear West Sussex County Council,

With construction starting on this improvement/widening/dualing works later this month, I'd like to ask for some documents that you may hold.

I've been following planning of this scheme is some details now for the past couple of years, and there are some inconsistencies that keep changing back and forth between plans and documents that have been made public between, the scheme page, other pages on WSCC website, Northern Arc planning application, youtube videos etc.

1. Roadside Footpaths / Shared Cycle Spaces. These have changed the most frequent from what I've seen. From being on 1 side of the road, to two sides of the road and now back to 1 side of the road. Please could I have the most up to date plans of where paved surfaces are going to exist beside the road for either pedestrians or shared spaces.
2. Most up to date Hamlin's Corner Proposed TROs and surface layout. And what restrictions are going to exist here for cyclists.
3. The Youtube Video produced in Feb/Mar 2020 shows some NSL signage. Is the whole road going to be subjected to NSL?
4. What, if any parts of the scheme are not going to be built to DMRB standard? Including standards of the minimal separation between a cycle area and the main carriageway (such as at bridges).
5. If already designed, could I have the drawings of all signs used on the scheme.
6. How many lights are going to be installed as part of this scheme. Please breakdown the amount of street lights, lit signs, lit bollards.
7. What technology is going to be installed, including at Hickstead Junction.
8. If any, how many CCTV Cameras are going to be installed for traffic monitoring purposes and who would operate these cameras (Sussex Police, Highways England etc)
9. If any, how many ANPR cameras are going to be installed and who would pay for them (i.e. Sussex Police, Northern Arc Developers, West Sussex CC etc)
Yours faithfully,

Thomas Jarvis

Dear Jackie Boxall,

Thank you for your response,

In question 7, I am referring to any technology except Cameras, such as:
Variable Message Signs to warn motorists of closures or delays on the SRN or in/around Burgess Hill.
Loops to count & monitor vehicles / speed.

Also can I confirm that "A2300 CAP HTS 00 DR C 0071A C01.pdf" is the most recent version of signs at Hickstead Junction. I've had a quick glance so far at the documents and noticed that the sign approaching the eastern roundabout from the west seems to be missing the A23 on-slip arm. Also A2300 Southbound approach (from Ricebridge Ind. est.) to the western roundabout seems to have Brighton (A23) as a designation of the A2300 beyond the eastern roundabout, and not the A23 on-slip arm as shown.

Yours sincerely,

Thomas Jarvis

Question 7 – we are not planning to install any of those items you
described below at Hickstead junction.

Drawing A2300-CAP-HTS-00-DR-C-0071A-C01 is work in progress and our
reviewer has identified the errors you identified so thank you.
