A100 Admission process

EK made this Freedom of Information request to University of Dundee This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was successful.

Dear University of Dundee,

I will appreciate your help if you can give me some information about the process and admission in the A100 (Medicine) Course.

1.- Could you please tell me your academic and UCAT score points in the admission process? Particularly, for the Scottish Highers A or B and if you give points for Advanced Highers A or B too, how much do you give for them? And for a UCAT of 2470 band 2?
2.- My second question is about the number of interviews and offers for candidates with UCAT between 2400 and 2550. Could you please give some information about it?
3.- If the candidate has 6 highers (5 A and 1 B) does that B go towards something?

Thank you for your time and your information.

Yours faithfully,

EK

Dear Ernesto Klein

Thank you for your information request which has been handled under the
Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FoI(S)A).  Please find our
responses below.

 1. With regards to the selection process the University combines an
Academic Score (based on certified and predicted grades and contextual
factors) and UCAT score. These scores were weighted 60:40 Academic:
UCAT for non-graduates and 40:60 Academic: UCAT for graduates. We use
the UCAT score by categorising the applicants in deciles of UCAT
performance. More information about the UCAT can be found at
[1]https://www.ucat.ac.uk/. GCSE results and predicted grades are
scored and together make up 60% of the initial assessment stage for
school leavers. UCAT accounts for the other 40%.
Regarding the scoring model, the maximum academic score is 10 and that
there is no minimum score as such, and we take mitigating
circumstances and contextual factors into account. We don't
weigh/score each subject - we check that applicants have completed or
are completing all the essential subjects i.e. Chemistry, Biology,
Maths and English.
Every year applicants to the University's undergraduate medicine
program apply with a range of scores in UCAT as well as academic
achievements. The University can therefore not speculate as to what
outcomes in the selection process will be for holders of specific
results. We have provided you with a range of historical statistics
concerning admissions to the A100 course which we hope will give you
some useful information.
