Thank you for your request to the Welsh Government for information under the Freedom of
Information Act (2000) received on 21November 2022. You have requested the following:
1. What discussions has the Welsh Government had with the Scottish Government on
charging patients for treatment?
2. Has the Welsh Government had any discussions on charging patients for treatment
in the last 3 years?
Our Response
1. Discussions have not taken place with the Scottish Government regarding charging
patients for treatment. However, Welsh Government do speak to other UK nations
with regards to existing charging rates.
2. There have been no discussions within Welsh Government regarding charging
patients for treatment within the last 3 years.
You may wish to be aware that Welsh Government continues to demonstrate its
commitment to achieve the vision and ambitions as set out in “A Healthier Wales”, our plan
for the future of health and social care, which was published in June 2018.
