Liverpool Cycle Strategy
Dear Sir or Madam,
On page 3 of "Cycle LiverpoolIssue 1 Autumn / Winter 2008"[1] it says "New Liverpool Cycle Strategy - The current Cycle Strategy was adopted by the City Council in 1997."
Please can I have:
- a copy of this 1997 Cycle Strategy
- all subsequent documents which directly relate or discuss this strategy

Many thanks for your recent communication requesting information under the
Freedom of Information Act 2000, dated 27/02/2009.

Hi Rebecca
I’ve received your Freedom of Information request on the cycling strategy and just wanted to clarify what you require.
I can provide you with the strategy – do you want it electronically or a hard copy?
There was also a BYPAD review of the strategy done in November 2004.
The Merseyside Cycling Strategy, which was adopted as part of the second Local Transport Plan, is available as Appendix 4 to download from www.letstravelwise.org/50/<http://www.letstravelwise.org/50/> or I can provide this as a hard copy.
Please can you let me know if this is sufficient or what else you need to fulfil your request
Thanks
Karen

Liverpool Year of the Environment 2009 – Our City Our Planet
Dear Karen,
thanks for the link (Appendix 4 of www.letstravelwise.org/50/<http://www.letstravelwise.org/50/>) - that is to a document dated July 2005 and is called the "Merseyside Cycle Strategy" - how does it relate to the Cycle Strategy adopted by Liverpool City Council in 1997? Is it something entirely different?
I noticed that it doesn't have any information about specific routes and there are no maps - I am particularly interested in these.
Yes, could you send me an electronic version of the full 1997 strategy please?
Could you email it to *this* email address, thanks.
Could you also email me the BYPAD review of the strategy and any other documents which directly relate or discuss the strategy (such as assessments of progress on the strategy).
Thanks very much,
Rebecca Lawson
Hi Rebecca
I have to respond to you officially via the FOI system but just wanted
to check what you wanted, so I'll do that now.
Regarding the assessment of progress for Liverpool's Cycle Strategy, I'm
reviewing it at the moment so hope to have it ready for public
consultation soon.
Thanks
Karen

Dear Mr. Winstanley,
thank you for the documents. I note that the main Liverpool Cycling Strategy document refers to a number of plans (in section 7.3 - see quote below) which are an essential part of the strategy. It is extremely difficult to make sense of the Strategy and its Appendices without these plans.
Could I therefore request that you provide copies of the following plans:
"Plan 1: Northern Area
Plan 2: Central Areas (Excluding City Centre)
Plan 3: Southern Area
Plan 4: City Centre (draft map). A 1:2500 plan giving much greater detail on City Centre routes will be included in the Stage 2 Report (final draft)."
Yours sincerely,
Rebecca Lawson
