Mariano Sciaroni made this Freedom of Information request to Royal Navy This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

Royal Navy did not have the information requested.

Dear Royal Navy,

Please, under the Freedom of Information Act, I am asking for copies of Operation Corporate (Falklands 1982) Reports of Proceedings from 826 Naval Air Squadron.

No copy of the RoP is in the National Archives.

Thanks in advance.

Yours faithfully,
Mariano Sciaroni

Dear DBS KI-RR FOI (MULTIUSER),

Thank you for the reply.

HMS Hermes log does not mention 826 NAS activities. Could I ask what happened with the Report of Proceedings? Surely the RoP was once in your files, and now is not in your hands and not in the National Archives.

Naval Historical Branch does not have a copy?

Yours sincerely,

Mariano Sciaroni

Dear DBS KI-RR FOI (MULTIUSER),

Any update of my query? Thanks in advance.

Dear Mr Sciaroni

I am not if this is the FOI request you are referring to. I did send out this response on the 18th June. If this is not the one to which you refer could you let me know and I will check the status for you.

I hope this is helpful

Dear Lorraine (DBS KI-RR FOI MULTIUSER),

Thanks for the quick reply.

My question is if "Naval Historical Branch does not have a copy" (usually they have a copy there).

The file is not in the National Archives.

Yours sincerely,
Mariano Sciaroni

Dear DBS KI-RR FOI (MULTIUSER),

I´ve just received an email from the National Archives about 826 Naval Air Squadron Records. It says: "CAS-29751...A search of Discovery finds no records for Squadron 826. This would indicate the records – if they have survived – have not yet been transferred by the Ministry of Defence. If and when they are, they are likely to be in the same series DEFE 69. We cannot comment any further on records that are not here, but the Ministry of Defence may be able to offer further advice. I am sorry we cannot be of more help. Yours sincerely. Keith MXXXXX. Remote Enquiries Duty Officer"

Could you please re-check if the Naval Historical Branch (or the Fleet Air Arm Museum?) have a copy of this file, please? I can not believe the file was lost, especially when the 820 NAS files (the sister squadron) are already in the National Archives.

Thanks in advance.

Yours sincerely,

Mariano Sciaroni

Dear Mr Sciaroni,

Thank you for your e-mail.

Our original searches for this information would have included all organisations within the MOD.

The Fleet Air Arm Museum is independent of the MOD; you may wish to ask them. Their contact page is at
